Supervision for Therapists

When I first thought about getting supervision, I could feel my back cringe, and the hairs on my body stand up. I was remembering the experience I had many times while in medical training about supervision. It seemed that many times I would feel bad about not knowing what was going on, or feeling criticized for doing something incorrectly. Basically I had the feeling it was not okay to make a mistake. And yet I have since learned that supervision can be such a wonderful experience. I have had the opportunity to be on the giving and receiving end of supervision that feels so positive even when mistakes or desired outcomes have not been met.

In my Satir therapy training, my supervision was always about having opportunities to build more confidence, gain more competence and become more congruent ( or present with others). I have these same goals when I work with other therapists, looking at their edge, what things might be holding them back or causing distress. I have been a member of a Balint group for over 30 years in which we explore the doctor- patient relationship. I have gained valuable insight from sharing my triumphs, my concerns, and my blocks to being fully present for my clients and patients. I have also come to look forward to my supervision, where I have experienced being supported in a positive way, letting go of what is not needed so I can be fully present in my life, and with my clients.

This is what I have to offer you in supervision. A positive fun exploration of what is working and what may need to change in order for you to be the effective confident therapist you want to be for yourself and others in your life. This can also be viewed as a preventative measure against becoming overwhelmed or burnt-out in your work

This is a non-OHIP service, one which you may receive CE credits for, and the cost of which is $150/hour. We can meet in person or via Skype/Zoom or Face time. I look forward to discussing with you ways in which we can make this happen, in a safe, confidential manner.
